Inclusivity should be essential in design, because it advocates equal opportunities, social integration, and dignity for all individuals. ecoBirdy promotes diversity in gender, age, race, abilities, social status and cultural background

Commitment to Inclusive Design

At the beginning of our journey with ecoBirdy, we made the commitment to inspire the next generation and to leave them a better planet than the one we are living in, starting by reducing the sea of plastic waste. What else have we taken into consideration?

In ecoBirdy’s design guideline, we have specified that inclusive design should be implicitly respected, honouring the diversities in:

  • gender
  • race
  • age
  • abilities
  • social status
  • cultural background

The minorities in these categories are often those with more urgent needs, and are also those often being excluded. We believe that design is a human-centred process that aims to improve lives positively, and empathizing is the first step when developing design thinking skills. Design is a problem-solving process that starts with designers’ imagination and sensitivity towards the users’ challenges in daily life.

The value of being creative is when our design can ensure that everyone, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities, age, gender, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or any other characteristic, can fully participate and benefit from it. The inclusion will not advance only marginalized groups but lead to better overall user experiences and increased innovation.

Inclusivity should be essential in design, because it advocates equal opportunities, social integration, and dignity for all individuals.
